Sensing Jupiter
This painting was born from a call towards Jupiter, as a thanks to one of our great protectors. Its gravity rules the solar system, and its presence alone shields the Earth from countless asteroids. Seen from outside it is calm and majestic. Inside, its storms are the strongest in the solar system, a chaos that holds a great generative force.
A girl floats in deep space, and an eye stands halfway between her and the planet: the meeting point of the immortal planet and the mortal person. She is the human capacity to feel Jupiter's pull as something beyond the human, to join it and carry the planet's double nature, and she stands for anyone who lives with a chaos inside, in tune with everything around them. Vijaya Trentin was the model, and she expressed that feeling fully.
While I painted it, the music of Vijaya's new album was its soundtrack. I gave it its last strokes live, while she played, at Sensing the Chaos in Milan in February 2023.
